August was another good month for the business and thankfully it looks as if the recent Google update will push the sites to better numbers in the future. 

While I’m not sure where everything is going to end up, I have a lot to be encouraged about and feel very positive about my online business for the first time in a while. 

I think a lot of this is because we have our offline business which is also doing well, and as of this moment we’re comfortably diversified between online and offline assets, which is a great feeling.

The biggest positive this month: I’d say that the fact that nearly all of my sites saw big jumps in traffic (between 20-30%) from the Google algo update was a big win for the month.  It’s outside of my control, but it felt great to be on the positive side of an algo change for once.    

The biggest negative this month:  Site 12, which is mainly focused on AI content has started to see a decrease in traffic.  I think it’s because I’ve really slacked on interlinking between site pages, so I’m going to work to get that done soon.        

Here are the numbers behind my business for the month:

• Revenue: $13,607 (This includes revenue from all sources)
• Expenses : $8,309 (This only includes business expenses. I no longer include my own pay, healthcare expenses, or 401k investments here as it’s all a distribution of revenue that no one else reports on either)
• Net Income: $5,298

August was extremely productive for me.  My wife and baby girl visiting family in Brazil while I hung out at home to take care of our pets.  While I missed them dearly, it was a very productive month as I had numerous projects, I wanted to get done that I wasn’t able to focus enough on while they were around. 

That’s all for the personal update.

OHP site traffic increased very slightly for the month overall, but the Google algo update has brought in +25-30% more traffic for the foreseeable future assuming they don’t roll back any updates.  It’s been very encouraging to have this as I really wasn’t sure what else Google wanted from me, so it’s great to see this positive development.

PLAN:  We’re continuing to publish 1-2 pieces of content each week while also revising current content often.  This seems to have been helpful for the update, and I noticed traffic start to trend up before the algo update actually happened.  So, I think as of now we have a winning formula we’ll continue moving forward with.   

Traffic had a big spike for the month and increased about 101%, but the reason it did this is a bit fleeting.  Basically, we had one post that Google put into Google discover and while it gave some decent traffic, it wasn’t something I even really noticed while it was happening. 

PLAN:  For now, we’re going to let this site sit and see what happens organically with Google.

This site saw a small traffic decrease, but ended up increasing earnings by 236%.  I’m honestly not sure why this even happened, but I’m obviously happy to see it.  Nothing to get too excited about though, the numbers are still rather low.   

PLAN:  No future plans for the site, I just want to let it sit and see what happens.

This site has me very excited.  Between this one and OHP, all of my efforts/work are focused here and it’s definitely starting to pay off.  While the site isn’t making a ton yet, it’s growing with traffic and should grow a lot more as I’ve been publishing 2-3 long-form posts daily. 

The content on this site is heavily AI-focused, but has an editor helping to both revise and optimize the posts.  So far, so good, and I think it’s a very scalable process that we’ll continue.

PLAN:  As of now we’re trying to consistently publish 3 blog posts each day.  It wasn’t easy to scale to this level, but I think we’ve got it figured out now and we’ll see what this does for the site in the month of September.  Beyond that, there are a ton of great software roundup posts for affiliate opportunities on this site as well, with a commission of $100+ per purchase, so we’ll continue on and see how things do. 

I’m also working on some link-building campaigns as well.  A big part of it will be HARO, but also some other tactics I’ve used in the past that tend to do well.

MoM traffic increased 14% on this site to 1,184.  This is a pure AI site and I think it might be a winner based on what I’m seeing.  We aren’t scaling up product yet here, I’m going to sit and wait to see how site 12 does.  

PLAN:  We are going to sit and wait on this one to see how it does while we push a little harder on Website 12.

MoM traffic increased 13% to 1,670.  Similar to website 11, this is another pure AI site and it’s also looking like a winner. 

PLAN:  We published around 150 posts in the month of September and I haven’t seen any increases in traffic yet.  So, we’re going to work on some interlinking to see I that helps.  I should probably do link building as well, but that would require more investment than what I’m willing to throw at this for now.

The OneHourProfessor YouTube channel continues to sit.  Subscribers/earnings/views are all falling, and I understand why but still can’t go back to it.
