Another month down and June was great from a business standpoint, but an absolute nightmare from a personal standpoint.

I’ll get into this within the report, but it mostly revolved around the fact that we had to move into the new home which is great….but has some unexpected surprises.

This month my total income after expenses was $17,781 which comes out to $593 per day.

Also, make sure you follow me on Instagram as well @onehourprofessor.  Admittedly I haven’t been posting a ton in the last couple weeks because we’ve had painters at the house, but I’m really going to try to grow on this platform and I’d love for you to be a part of the community.

Personal Life Update

My personal life in June was overall good, but a complete mess when it came to the house.

Yes, we were finally able to move into the house which is great but there were so many different things that we had to handle right after we got in that it really threw me off.

  • Scorpions: Definitely the biggest surprise was the fact that we had hundreds of scorpions in our backyard.  Even though we were assured by the previous owner that they want a problem, it turns out that they were liars.  This created hours of work which entailed me walking around the backyard with a black light at midnight over and over smashing scorpions with a rubber mallet.  Beyond that, we also hired an exterminator to help us get rid of the problem.  The good news?  The problem has been solved and we really don’t see many anymore, but this was an unexpected and unwanted surprise.
  • Carpeting:  When purchasing this house, my wife and I knew that we had to replace the carpet.  We tried to time everything so that we’d be able to not have our lives completely interrupted while they did this, but that was unsuccessful.  I’m happy to report that now we have new carpeting, but it was a bit of a nightmare to have these people working around us for the three days that they were here.
  • Pool:  I’ve never owned a pool before so I had absolutely no idea how to manage it.  Turns out, it’s very easy to do which is great because I didn’t want to have a bunch of other headaches to deal with.  We had to take time to shock the pool and clean it, but it looks like things are in good shape now.
  • Washer and Water Softener:  Of course, both my washer and water softener had issues after moving in even though our inspector said they were in working order.  The washer was leaking and is still in the process of repair but is usable, and the water softener needed to be fully replaced.
  • Irrigation, furniture, and more: Truth be told, there was a bunch of other random things we had to deal with as well and almost all of them cause a headache.  I don’t know exactly how many hours I work this month, it was significantly less than I would’ve liked.

The good news?

We are moved into the house and although we have painters coming soon to paint everything, things are already looking a lot better.  Thankfully I have an office now and connection to concentrate on my work, which is something I’ve been longing for since we moved out of our old home.

That’s all for the personal update.

If this is your first time on my website let me explain a few things about my detailed income reports each month that outlines the money I made (or lost) each month.

I’m doing this for a number of reasons:

1) I strive to be transparent about what it takes to make money online.

2) These reports help me keep track of my own progress.

3) These reports hold me accountable.

Keep in mind, I don’t create these to gloat about my earnings. I create them to help you understand the true “earning curve” of online business.

On a side note, I don’t disclose my actual website URL’s on my reports because I’ve had bad experiences with copycats in the past.

So, in my income reports, you’ll see website generalizations like Website 1, Website 3, Website 5 Website 4, etc.

Now that we got that out of the way, let’s dive into the report.

Project Updates

Udemy Update

I don’t focus on Udemy any longer, but I have made money from them every month since I stopped.

OHP Website Update

  • OHP again had its best month ever in terms of earnings and it’s great to see this considering all the effort that I’m putting into it. Traffic did fall a little bit this month and this was mainly because my post about making money on Youtube losing some rankings.  While this is slightly annoying, the thing that really matters with any business is the profit and that increased from the prior month.
  • Pageviews fell to 78k this month, which is an 13% decrease
  • Referring domains increased to 1,647 and keep climbing as I keep guest posting and links get shared.
  • This month I earned: $8,573. This is (again) my best month ever for this site for the 8th month in a row.  It was an increase in earnings MoM by 19%.
  • EPM increased to $109 which is great to see. I attribute this to the traffic drop on some pages that were making a lot of money, but also to other content and creating which makes even more money.
  • PLAN: At this point, I have a pretty good workflow with the OHP website.  Now that I have the foundation in place, the thing that I’m working on is trying to put a system in place to help to consistently revise the content.  I’ve come to notice that my competitors who are beating me tend to revise their content often and this is something that I don’t do.  I’m currently building out a spreadsheet with best practices and experimenting with different strategies for this.  In the future, my goal is to outsource this to someone that can help me revise the content to make it even better and (hopefully) continue to climb the ranks in the SERP.

Website 3

  • I have done nothing on this site for at least 12 months except add Ezoic to the site and it continues to print money for me. I have no intention of working on it and will just let this sit as I work on my other projects.
  • Pageviews hit 311k this month, which is a 45% increase MoM.
  • Referring domains increased to 762. I don’t know why they increased that much month over month as this site is pretty hands-off, but I’m happy with the trend.
  • This month I earned: $5,749. This was an increase of 29% MoM.  Interestingly, this was the second best month this site has ever had and I’ve done nothing more than let Ezoic run to get these crazy numbers.
  • EPM decreased to $48. I attribute this to the astronomical traffic I got for the month dragging down my earnings per 1000 visitors.
  • PLAN: This site is currently 100% passive and I do not work on it.  I intend on selling this site once I’m consistently making enough from OHP to justify it.

Website 5

  • I have done nothing on this site for at least 12 months except add Ezoic to the site and it continues to print money for me. I have no intention of working on it and will just let this sit as I work on my other projects.
  • Pageviews hit 73k this month, which is a 12% increase
  • Referring domains increased to 555.
  • This month I earned: $1,596 which is an increase of 25% MoM.
  • EPM increased to $85
  • PLAN: This site is currently 100% passive and I do not work on it.  I intend on selling this site once I make enough from OHP to justify it.

Website 6

  • I mentioned last month how I was going to throw Ezoic on to this site in order to make some extra money, and boy am I glad I did. This was the best month ever for the site and I look forward to seeing how much it grows in the coming months.  He
  • Pageviews hit 14 this month, which is a 29% increase MoM.
  • Referring domains increased to 175.
  • Earnings increased 174%! This site is now making a respectable amount of income each month and I hope I can go in the future.
  • EPM is now at $18.38 for this site which is more than double what it was previously.
  • How Much Have I Invested in This Website: $5,718
  • How Much Money Has This Website Made? $2,177
  • Total ROI: -$3,541
  • How Much Content is on the Website? Keep in mind this website is mostly focused on affiliate content with some informational content: 222 Blog posts
  • PLAN: Production has been paused.  This site is currently 100% passive and I do not work on it.  Now that I’m seeing such positive things with the earnings of the site, and considering creating content again.  I don’t think I’m ready do it yet as my attention is focused on other sites, but the earnings this month were very positive sign.

Website 7

  • Another month down with website 7 and I’m really starting to wonder what the ceiling is for this particular website. While my original goal was to make a couple thousand dollars a month, this month it made more than double that and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon.  It’s a great surprise and I’m hoping that this baby will continue to grow.
  • Pageviews hit 138k this month, which is a 10% increase MoM.
  • Referring domains increased to 388. These are all completely natural backlinks and I do nothing to continue to acquire them.
  • This month I earned: $5,320. This was an increase of 29% MoM, which is insane and I hope it continues.
  • EPM for the site this month is $361, which was another big jump from last month and excites me.
  • How Much Have I Invested in This Website: $34,648
  • How Much Money Has This Website Made? $27,915
  • Total ROI: $-6,733 (If I were to sell the website today, I can assume I’d sell for an estimated $150k. Which means a net gain of about $144,000)
  • How Much Content is on the Website: Keep in mind that this is an informational type of website, not affiliate related at all.
    • 1470 Informational pages on the website

  • PLAN: Again this site has surprised me and it looks like it’s going to continue to grow in the near term. I’m getting to the point to where I have my writer maxed out at 40 articles a month and I’m still making thousands of dollars in profit.  While and try my best to keep her busy, I know that eventually she won’t be able to write on this website anymore and at that time will have to decide what to do.  But for now, I’m going to continue to watch the sucker grow and work less than an hour a week on the project.

Website 8

  • This site continues to chug along and I still have some faith in what I’m trying to do, but I really need to start focus on link building. The site itself lost a little bit of traffic this month, but gained some in earnings and I’m still waiting to hit the 10,000 page view threshold before I implement Ezoic to make even more money.
  • Pageviews hit 8k this month, which is a 10% decrease MoM.
  • Referring domains decreases to 130.
  • This month I earned: $42 This was an increase of 11% MoM.
  • EPM is now at $6.18.
  • How Much Have I Invested in This Website: $6,622
  • How Much Money Has This Website Made? $730
  • Total ROI: -$5,892 (If I were to sell the website today, I can assume I’d sell for an estimated $1.2k.  Which means a net loss of about $4,492)
  • How Much Content is on the Website? Keep in mind this website is mostly focused on affiliate content with some informational content.

  • PLAN: Continue content production of 3 articles a week.  I do need to build links but I’m just too busy with other projects right now.

  • Referring domains increased to 17.
  • This month I earned: $18. This was a decrease of 5% MoM.
  • EPM is at $16.30

  • PLAN: This site continues to sit, I have done nothing for it in years.  Production has been paused.  This site is currently 100% passive and I do not work on it.

Website 10 Update (100% Outsourced Authority Website Built by BrandBuilders)

  • This is month 4 of the 100% outsourced authority website experiment and so far, so good. At this point in time, Brandbuilders has handed the website to me and is no longer working on it.  The original plan was to head them continue link building, but after seeing the value that they provided up until this point I decided it was a good time for a handoff and I’ll take it forward myself.
  • Pageviews are zero. The site is still new so I’m not concerned.
  • Referring domains 18
  • This month I earned: $0
  • EPM is at $0
  • How Much Content is on the Website?
    • 33 Informational Blog Posts
  • PLAN: As of now I’m just going to continue to build links to the site myself and a few guest posts.  I know this isn’t technically 100% outsourced, but they’ve gotten me to this point and now link building is really where things take over.  My plan is to let the site sit and start to grow organically and thus far it looks to be doing that.

Website 8 Complimentary YouTube Channel

  • While there was a small decrease in earnings and views this month, this channel still does well. As of now it pays for all of the production of new videos and has additional income left over to help my wife in her other project, another YouTube channel. If you’re interested in building an outsourced YouTube channel like this, I recommend that you check out this webinar.
  • Views hit 149k this month, which is a decrease of 10% MoM.
  • Gained 638 subscribers this month.
  • Earnings increased to $705, which is an increase of 8% MoM.
  • How Much Did We Invest in This YouTube Channel: $1,820 (Estimate of $350/month in expenses)
  • How Much Money Has This YouTube Channel Made? $5,351
  • Total ROI: $3,176 (If I were to sell the channel today, I can assume I’d sell for an estimated $21k.  Which means a net gain of $24,176)
  • PLAN: My wife continues to publish a video every day on this channel.  We tried to create more unique content within the channel itself and it didn’t do very well, so she’s contemplating opening another channel that can house these high-quality videos.

One Hour Professor YouTube Channel

  • The OHP channel is still sitting and admittedly, I don’t like it. I really want to work on the channel itself but I just haven’t found the time to do so and until I have a workflow set up for OHP revisions, I don’t know if it’s going to be possible.  I do still intend on being more active in the channel, but it’s going to be a matter of having all of my other ducks in a row first.
  • Views dropped a bit this month to 27.4k. This was a decrease of 19%.
  • Gained 449 subscribers this month.
  • Channel earned $581 this month. An earnings decrease of 19%.
  • How Much Have I Invested in This YouTube Channel: $3,897 (Estimate of $120/month in expenses)
  • How Much Money Has This YouTube Channel Made? $10,930
  • Total ROI: $7,033 (If I were to sell the channel today, I can assume I’d sell for an estimated $15k.  Which means a net gain of about $22k)
  • PLAN: I really do have big plans for the channel and I hate to keep saying this, but it’s the truth. The question is, will I be able to find the time to consistently create content for the channel itself?  I definitely think I will and I’m pretty confident that within a month or so things will be normal around here again.  At that time, I’ll be picking back up YouTube and either doing one or two videos a week.  I used to do three which was great, but it just isn’t feasible to keep up that production schedule with everything else going on.

Themed YouTube Channel 1

  • This channel increased a lot in views in the month of June, but unfortunately the earnings per thousand views was pretty low. As I mentioned in my previous income reports, this is exactly why my wife and I stopped this project.  Due to the fact that it’s located in Brazil, the earnings per thousand views just isn’t what it would be if it was in the United States.
  • Views increased to 275k views, which is a 46% increase MoM.
  • Gained 1.26k subscribers this month.
  • PLAN: We are opting to let this channel sit.  I don’t know if there’s a point in working on this as Thalita tried a few tweaks to the videos by making them English in hopes that it would increase the amount of earnings.  While it didn’t do that, it did increase the amount of years.  This is a fun channel to experiment on and while I don’t know where it will lead, it’s been good to learn some things.

Thalita YouTube Channel

  • Good news on this one. As I reported on my last income report, this channel was effectively canceled because nothing seemed to be working.  But,Thalita decided in the month of June to pivot the channel (again) into a new area and this time, it seems to be working!  This channel has now become a Portuguese vlog about her life in Las Vegas and with inly 5 videos published, it’s looking like this could be the winner she’s been chasing.
  • Views hit 23k this month, which is an increase of 445% MoM.
  • Gained 681 subscribers this month.
  • Earnings increased to $46, which is an increase of 882% MoM.
  • How Much Did We Invest in This YouTube Channel: $300 (Estimate of $300/month in expenses)
  • How Much Money Has This YouTube Channel Made? $46
  • Total ROI: -$254
  • PLAN: Thalita has decided that she’s going to work on publishing three videos a week to this channel.  I think this is a great idea and she’s got the right editor in place to help her.  Now, she just needs to create content and continue to engage her following.  For what it’s worth, I’m willing to bet that she’s going to hit $250 in earnings in the month of July and my expectation is that this will continue to climb as the months go on.

Lessons Learned

Every month, I’m going to reflect back and tell you a few different lessons that I’ve learned. My hope is that the lessons each month will be a cautionary tale for you that makes it so that you don’t make the dumb mistakes that I do along the way.

  • Google is weird about ranking fluctuations.
  • Revisions are crucial to your success.
  • PIVOT.

  • Hey Ron,
Website #5.. Do you run Ezoic ads or Adsense? According to reports, this website not growing on income every month or year.

    • Hey Andre,

I use Ezoic but haven’t worked on this site in years. If you look at the graph, once I implemented Ezoic in February 2021, income increased significantly. I don’t know why you think it’s not growing in revenue, the numbers/graph show otherwise.
